Chris Muyldermans has built a diverse career across finance, academia, and public service. She is currently a Lecturer at Odisee University of Applied Sciences in Brussels, a Board Member of Child-Help, and serves as a lay judge at the Court of Enterprises in Antwerpen. Chris' professional background includes various roles within the KBC Group, notably as Head of EU Affairs from 2017 to March 2024, where she represented KBC Group in interactions with European institutions and financial industry bodies. Her experience also extends to regulatory affairs, policy advice, and leadership positions in asset management both in Brussels and internationally. Chris's early career focused on banking management and financial markets. Chris holds a Master in Law from the Catholic University of Leuven and has completed studies at the Vlerick Management School in Gent.
Deputy Director General, DG FISMA, European Commission
Alexandra Jour-Schroeder is Deputy Director General of the European Commission´s Directorate-General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union since March 2021. In her function, Alexandra Jour-Schroeder supervises and monitors the policies of the Directorate General. Alexandra Jour-Schroeder is a graduate in law. Following initial assignments in the German federal government, she started working for the European Commission in 1996, holding several positions in competition, enterprise and industry policies as well as justice. From 1998 to 2007, she was Member of Cabinet for the Commissioners responsible for regional policy and justice and home affairs and for the Vice-President for enterprise and industry. Since 2017, she has been the Director for Criminal Justice in the Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers, working inter alia on the establishment of a European Public Prosecutor´s Office and Anti-Money Laundering policies. From 2018 to 2021, she was also overseeing consumer policies as Acting Deputy Director General in DG Justice and Consumers.
Managing Director, Brussels Office, City of London Corporation
Nick Collier joined the City of London Corporation as its new Managing Director of the Brussels office in March 2019. He was previously Global Head of Government Relations at Refinitiv (Thomson Reuters) and before that worked at a range of organisations in the financial services sector, including Morgan Stanley and the Bank of England and, until recently, served as Chair of TheCityUK’s Public Affairs Group as well as Deputy Chair of the International Regulatory Strategy Group. Nick is chair of diplomatic engagement at the International Business and Diplomatic Exchange. He holds a MSC in Economics and Finance from the London School of Economics and a BA from Oxford.
Managing Director,Swiss Finance Council
Esther Widmer has been Managing Director of the Swiss Finance Council since 1 January 2021. She was previously the Financial Services Attachée at the Mission of Switzerland to the European Union since 2016. In this capacity, she has been responsible for monitoring and analysing the developments of EU financial market policy and regulation with regard to the possible impact on Switzerland and related advocacy work. Before joining the Mission she was Deputy Head of Regulation at FINMA, the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority. In this role, she was working on various national financial market regulation projects and also Head of FINMA’s EU desk. During her time at FINMA she was seconded to the European Commission as a National Expert for five months in 2015 where she was able to work on EU financial services regulation on the side of the EU Institutions. Esther Widmer had joined FINMA after several years of experience as an Attorney specialised in Banking and Finance. She is admitted to the bar in Switzerland and holds a PhD in law.
Head of EU Policy & Regulation, FIA
Corinna Schempp is FIA’s Head of EU Policy & Regulation, responsible for developing and implementing the association's political and regulatory engagement strategy in the EU and UK in close coordination with FIA senior policy staff. Leading FIA's Brussels office, she is also involved in evaluating pending legislation, surveying the impact of legislation on the organisation and its membership and developing responses to legislation. Schempp joined FIA in September 2014 from LCH.Clearnet Limited where she was a Senior Regulatory Advisor in the Compliance & Regulation team Previously, her responsibilities covered regulatory compliance and licensing work in relation to LCH.Clearnet’s SwapClear business, including liaison with the Bank of England, CFTC, Ontario Securities Commission, AMF Quebec, BaFin and other international regulators. During her time at LCH.Clearnet she provided support on European and US regulatory issues, including the implementation of Dodd-Frank and associated CFTC regulations and EMIR. Prior to joining LCH.Clearnet in May 2011, Schempp was the Legal and Regulation Manager at EDX London, a derivatives exchange and joint venture between the London Stock Exchange and Sweden’s OMX AB. Schempp is a dual qualified lawyer, holding a post-graduate diploma in European Union law from King's College London, as well as law degrees from Germany and the UK.
