Dr Dirk Haubrich is Head of Consumer Protection, Financial Innovation and Payments at the European Banking Authority (EBA), London. The EBA regulates credit institutions, payment services providers, electronic money providers and other financial institutions across the 28 Member States of the EU. Dr Haubrich leads on the EBA’s work on payment services (which covers the security of internet payments, the revised Payment Services Directive and the Interchange Fee Regulation); consumer protection (including mortgages, personal loans, and payment accounts); as well as on the monitoring of financial innovation (such as virtual currencies and crowdfunding). Previously, Dr Haubrich held roles across the private, academic and public sectors: he was a Manager with consulting firm Accenture; Research Fellow at University College London and the University of Oxford; Policy Adviser with the UK Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit; Research & Strategy Manager at the UK Electoral Commission; and Project Manager at the UK Financial Services Authority.

Mariana Santos, Policy Officer, Retail Payment Services, DG Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union, European Commission Mariana Santos is a policy officer in the Retail Financial Services unit at the Directorate-General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union of the European Commission. Over the last three and half years, she has worked on the review of the second Directive on Payment Services in the internal market (PSD2), with a particular focus on fraud prevention. Mariana holds a PhD in Financial Geography from Durham University, UK, and before joining the European Commission worked as an academic researcher at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.

He has been passionate about PC and video gaming since the early ‘80’s - from the early days of Amstrad and Commodore to the high-end PC and console games available today and MMORPGs in particular. Diederik Bruggink works at the European Savings and Retail Banking Group (ESBG) and at the World Savings and Retail Banking Institute (WSBI) where he is responsible for all payments topics worldwide. In that role, he analyses the multiple dimensions of the payments market, proposing and assisting in agreeing member positions with respect to their payments’ and related businesses. He is also advocates the associations’ positions on payments with policymakers, regulators, standardisation bodies, industry associations, and enabling a constant member dialogue on developments, with a particular focus on innovation. He is a Member of the Board of the European Payments Council a member of the Commission’s Payments Systems Market Expert Group and he was a member of the European Central Bank’s Market Advisory Group on the Digital Euro, to name a few.

Anna Martin is the head of Financial Services at BEUC, the European Consumer Organisation. She is in charge of retail banking, working among other files on the review of the Payment Service Directive 2, Instant Payments and the digital euro. Before joining BEUC, she worked for the German Foreign Office in the team coordinating the German EU Council Presidency. Anna holds a Master in European Affairs from the College of Europe, Sciences Po Lille and the University of Münster.

Céu Pereira is an economist and team leader for the digital euro at the European Commission Directorate-General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Market’s Union. Previously, she led the Commission’s Retail Payments team and the elaboration of the Commission’s Retail Payments Strategy (2020), and the initiatives stemming from the Strategy, such as the Payment Services Directive III and the Payment Services Regulation. Her career spans over the Commission, World Bank, and European Central Bank, covering retail, wholesale, and innovative payments. She also served as financial attaché and chief negotiator with the Council of the European Union and European Parliament for financial services files during Portugal’s 2007 EU Presidency. She began her career as a teaching assistant at the University of Coimbra and holds a Master’s in European Integration from the College of Europe.

Alessandro Giovannini is an Adviser to the Programme Manager of the Digital Euro in the Digital Euro Directorate. Before taking this position, he led the ECB team in charge of the ECB’s relations with the European Parliament, national parliaments, and other policymakers, including in connection with the digital euro project. Prior to joining the ECB in 2015, he worked at various European and international organisations. Alessandro holds Master’s degrees in Economics from the Paris School of International Affairs (Sciences Po) and in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics.

Frida began her career at the Permanent Representation of Sweden to the EU, where she held several different roles, gaining first-hand experience in Council negotiations and deep insight into EU decision-making.

Pamela is a senior financial services executive with over 20 years of leadership experience across banking, payments, and fintech. She currently serves as the EU Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of TrueLayer Ireland Limited, where she oversees commercial and regulatory functions for TrueLayer’s European license. Pamela leads TrueLayer's expansion into the European market as General Manager and currently focuses on scaling ‘Pay by Bank’ networks across the EU while navigating complex cross-border payment regulations. Previously, Pamela held senior payments leadership roles at Permanent TSB, contributing to the implementation of PSD2, SCA, and Open Banking protocols. She also served as a Director of the Irish Paper Clearing Company and held a critical leadership role at Northern Rock during the 2008 financial crisis. He currently serves as Head of Public Affairs Sweden at Nordea, where he leads regulatory strategy in areas such as payments, digitalization, and cloud technologies. As a member of Nordea Sweden Branch Management and a senior advisor to the banks senior leadership team, he plays a strong role in shaping policy and the regulatory eco-system. Andreas also acts as the co-moderator for the European Cloud User Coalition (ECUC) and is a member of the Swedish Central bank’s Retail Payments Council Working Group for Legislation, Supervision and Policy, and a member of SEPA Payment Account Access Scheme (SPAA) Multi Stakeholder Group. Previously, Andreas held the position of Head of Regulatory Advisory at Swedbank AB, where he managed regulatory strategies and collaborated closely with risk and compliance teams. His leadership extended to leading the PSD2 project implementation and establishing a Cloud Centre of Excellence. During his tenure at the Swedish Ministry of Finance, he represented Sweden in Council negotiations and focused on securities markets and the first Capital Markets Union initiative in 2014. Complementing this experience, he served as Executive Director at the Swedish Securities Markets Association (SSMA), managing teams and industry-wide regulatory implementations like PRIIPs and MiFID II.
