Global Cybersecurity Leader for Financial Services, Accenture
Fabio leads Accenture’s Security practice for FS industry in Europe and ICEG. He has more than 20 years’ experience in technology and cybersecurity, working mainly for financial institutions and telcos, with a career trajectory started in strategic consulting boutiques, moving to Big4, and finally landing in Accenture. This has contributed to shape a “lateral” way of thinking with the ability to understand different point of views and to manage complex challenges with a broader set of skills and capabilities. He has in his working experience twice supported a security market leading start-up with sustainable multi years two digits growth in terms of revenues and team size. He likes complexity, moreover the one hidden in human interactions of large organizations and is energized by people coaching and growth aimed in letting people’s talents flourish in a natural way as an outcome of an inclusive way of being and living. Fabio has earned a master’s degrees in Telecommunication Engineering from Politecnico di Milano (University of Milan) and a master in Cybersecurity from Cefriel (Milan). He likes swimming and is passionate about baking and white art.
Technological Innovation & Cyber Security Advisor, European Commission
Peter advises on Technological Innovation, Digital Transformation and Cybersecurity at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union. He has led work on the European Commission’s Fintech Action Plan and Co-chairs the European Commission’s Fintech Taskforce. He has extensive experience and expertise in EU policy and regulation covering financial services, digitalisation, security and consumer protection. Earlier in his career, Peter was Finance Counsellor at the EU Embassy in Washington DC. He has also been a member of the private offices of the commissioner for the internal market and services and the commissioner for health and consumer protection. Before joining the European Commission, Peter advised major financial services companies on EU regulatory affairs. He is a Dutch national and holds master degrees in European affairs and political science from the College of Europe in Bruges and the University of Leuven, Belgium.
Member of the European Parliament
Alfred Sant studied physics and maths at the University of Malta, diplomacy at the Institut International d’Administration Publique (now amalgamated with the ENA) in Paris, and business administration at Boston and Harvard Universities. He worked as a diplomat at Malta’s Mission to the then EEC in Brussels (1970 - 1975), as executive deputy chairman of the Malta Development Corporation (now Malta Enterprise) during the late seventies/early eighties, as a management consultant in between and later. He was chairman of the Labour Party’s information department (1982 – 1984), President of the Party (1984 - 1988), a Labour M.P. (1987 – 2013), Labour Leader and Leader of the Opposition (1992 -2008) and Prime Minister (1996 – 1998). Over the years Sant wrote plays for the theatre, radio and TV, as well as novels and short stories in the Maltese language; was editor of three magazines and for thirteen years a correspondent of the Economist Intelligence Unit; and he wrote extensively in English and Maltese for the political and economic press. Alfred Sant was elected Member of the European Parliament in May 2014 and again in May 2019. He is a member of the Economic and Monetary Affairs committee and recently a shadow rapporteur for the Socialists and Democrats group on DORA.
Senior Bank Expert in the Digital Finance Unit, European Banking Authority
Davide Stroppa is a Senior Bank Expert in the Digital Finance Unit at the EBA and he is currently working on digital resilience and the set-up of the oversight framework envisaged by the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA). He is a member of the European Systemic Cyber Risk Group (ESCG) at the ESRB and he has recently chaired the EBA Task Force on Crowdfunding, to draft technical standards on disclosure of information, credit risk and risk management of crowdfunding service providers. Prior to that, over the past years, he led the EBA work related to the assessment of regulatory and supervisory equivalence of non-EU countries and was involved in the EBA work on third country cooperation. Earlier at EBA, he had worked on the analysis of banks’ recovery plans, and regularly attended Supervisory Colleges of several EU cross-border banks. Before joining the EBA, he had worked for a large pan-European bank, first as an economist and then in the Finance and Risk Management Departments.
Vice President, Ecosystem Risk, Europe Visa Inc.
David Capezza is Vice President for Ecosystem Risk, Europe, responsible for identifying, mitigating, and managing risks to Visa clients in the European region. David was previously Senior Director in Payment Fraud Disruption, leading the Payment Systems Intelligence team, which was responsible for identifying and disrupting fraud activities targeting Visa clients, merchants, and the overall payments ecosystem globally. His team was responsible for creating key Visa capabilities, including Visa Account Attack Intelligence, Vital Signs Cashout Monitoring, Visa Payment Threats Lab, Payment Threat Intelligence, Real-Time Attack Disruption, and eCommerce Threat Disruption, among others. David previously worked in Visa’s Cyber Security, Cyber Threat Intelligence team as a lead Intelligence Analyst. Prior to Visa, he gained extensive government and intelligence experience, holding positions within the US Department of State, Department of Defense and government consulting engagements. David holds a Master’s degree in Russian and Eurasian affairs and the Russian language from George Washington University, holds multiple information security certifications, and has authored numerous publications.
University of Piraeus, Cybersecurity Research Lab, and CTO & co-founder of trustilio
Nineta Polemi is a cybersecurity Professor in the University of Piraeus-UNIPI- (Cyber Security Lab, Dept. of Informatics) and CTO/ Co-Founder of trustilio. She established and acted as director of the UNIPI cybersecurity lab. She served (2017-2020) as Programme Manager and Policy Officer in the European Commission DG (CONNECT H1 Unit entitled ’Cybersecurity Technologies and Capabilities’). Her cybersecurity expertise is on: operational risk/conformity assessment, security management, incident management, supply chain security, threat intelligence. She has obtained her Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics (Coding Theory) from The City University of New York (Graduate Center). She held teaching and research positions in The City University of New York (Queens & Baruch Colleges), State University of New York (Farmingdale), Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB)-Solvay Brussels School-. She has over 150 publications in security has organised numerous scientific and policy international cybersecurity scientific events and trainings e.g. cyberhot. She has received many research grants (NATO, IEEE) and awards (NSA, MSI Army Research Office IEEE, CYNY, Hellenic Ministry of Maritime, Hellenic National Defense General) and has participated as Project and Technical Manager in more than 60 cybersecurity international, EU and national R&D and commercial projects. She serves as external expert/reviewer/consultant in EC, ENISA, FORTH, Focal Point, CodeWeTrust. She is a member of ETSI in the working groups of Cyber and AI.
