Senior Fellow, Bruegel
Rebecca Christie is a senior fellow at Bruegel, the Brussels-based economic policy think tank. She writes and speaks publicly about EU politics, financial regulation, tax and climate finance issues. In 2024 she served as a senior economist at the European Central Bank, working on capital markets union. Previously, she was the lead author on "Safeguarding the Euro in Times of Crisis", the official history of the European Stability Mechanism, and worked for more than 20 years as an economics and politics correspondent for Bloomberg News, Dow Jones/The Wall Street Journal and the Financial Times.

Antoine has been working at the Commission’s DG FISMA Securities Markets Unit for almost five years. At the Commission, he worked on various topics, notably on benchmarks, commodity derivatives, market structure and, more recently, the trading aspects of the Commission’s Market Integration and Supervision Package proposal. Before working at the Commission, Antoine worked on asset management policy at the French Financial Markets Authority (Autorité des Marchés Financiers – AMF), and at the European Parliament on financial services-related files.

Thomas van den Berg is financial services attaché at the Permanent Representation of the Netherlands to the European Union since March 2025, where he mainly covers the capital markets topics (currently mainly MISP, RIS, FIDA & SFDR). Before joining the Permanent Representation, he spent almost six years at the Dutch Central Bank within Financial Stability, focusing on (macroprudential) policy for banks. He holds a Masters degree in Quantitative Finance, a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Economics, and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, all from the University of Amsterdam.

Sandra Andersson is Head of Government Affairs, Belgium at Euronext since October 2025 where she covers European and Belgian policy matters with a focus on post-trade. Prior to joining Euronext, she spent four years at the European Securities Market Authority (ESMA) supporting ESMA’s institutional and policy engagements at EU level. Between 2015 -2021 she worked for the Federation of European Securities Exchanges, covering a variety of topics including equity market structure, primary markets and sustainable finance. She holds a Master’s degree in European Political and Administrative studies from the College of Europe and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Sciences from Uppsala University which included an exchange year at Sciences Po Paris.

Jean Pierre Salendres is Senior Director, European Policy at the Futures Industry Association (FIA). Based in Brussels, he focuses on EU regulatory developments affecting derivatives, clearing and market infrastructure. Prior to joining FIA, Jean Pierre worked in the Market Integration and Innovation Division at the European Central Bank and completed his studies at Columbia University
Senior Public Affairs Director, Regulatory, Compliance & Public Affairs, Euroclear
Pablo Portugal is a Senior Public Affairs Director at Euroclear SA/NV, which he joined in 2023. He focuses on market analysis, regulatory development and engagement with policymakers on a range of debates in financial services policy, wholesale markets and technology. He leads Euroclear’s policy work on the European Savings and Investments Union and represents the organisation in several external groups, industry associations and think tanks. Previously, he was a Managing Director at the Association for Financial Markets in Europe (AFME) where he was responsible for the work on the EU Capital Markets Union project. He has worked on the major financial crisis reforms and engaged in policy development and research projects in securities markets, banking, sustainable finance, financial reporting/auditing and corporate governance. His earlier experience includes roles with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and the United Nations. He holds a BSc Econ (first class) in International Relations from the University of Wales and a Masters Degree (with distinction) from the London School of Economics.
